Ready to take your knitting to the next level? In this 6-week course, you'll learn to knit a full adult-sized sweater step by step. Choose between a classic pullover or cozy cardigan pattern, and get guidance on everything from gauge swatching and shaping to seaming and finishing. Perfect for adventurous beginners or anyone who's ready to tackle their first big knitting project!
Course Schedule & Breakdown
Week 1: Planning, Patterns & Swatching
Choosing your sweater style: pullover or cardigan
Understanding sweater construction and reading a pattern
Yarn selection, needle sizes, and tools
How to knit a gauge swatch and adjust if needed
Week 2: Getting Started
Casting on for your chosen sweater
Knitting in the round (or flat, depending on design)
Understanding increases/decreases for shaping
Begin body or sweater back
Week 3: Building the Body
Tracking your rows and shaping accurately
Sleeve options (drop shoulder, raglan, set-in)
Trying on as you go (top-down or modular tips)
Project check-in and support
Week 4: Sleeves & Construction
Picking up stitches for sleeves or continuing sleeve shaping
Working in the round on smaller circumferences
Pattern help: cabling, lace, or textured stitch options
How to stay consistent with tension
Week 5: Necklines, Ribbing & Seaming
Shaping the neckline and finishing edges
Adding ribbing and button bands (if cardigan)
How to seam pieces (mattress stitch) and weave in ends
Blocking your sweater for a professional finish
Week 6: Finishing Touches & Sweater Reveal
Final seaming, finishing techniques, and troubleshooting
