Choosing a costume that fits your skill level
Taking measurements and sketching basic designs
Fabric and trim selection
Introduction to pattern use (commercial or DIY)
Week 2: Cutting & Construction Begins
Cutting fabric from a pattern
Basic garment construction: bodices, skirts, pants, cloaks, etc.
Understanding costume structure (e.g., layering, closures)
Project Work: Start assembling costume pieces
Week 3: Sewing Details & Adding Embellishments
Adding trims, appliqués, accessories, and costume details
Working with unusual materials (felt, faux fur, stretchy fabrics, etc.)
Fitting and adjustments
Project Work: Continue building costume + troubleshoot fit
Week 4: Final Touches & Costume Showcase
Finishing seams and closures
Last-minute fixes and additions (hats, capes, props)
Tips for durability and comfort (especially for kids’ costumes)
